Marriage: It’s spiritual, life-changing and one of the biggest decisions a person will make. It is positioning oneself to always consider the other person first and foremost; in no way is it self-serving. It is sharing the joys of life, the lows, supporting one another and creating new dreams and a family filled with love.
I could write a novel on the mere definition of marriage. I’m inspired often as I have the privilege of being a wedding officiant and assisting in binding a couple’s love. What an honor!
Each month, I will be featuring a lovely bride in which I have had the privilege of meeting and being a part of her wedding. Our first bride is Ashley Nicole.
The location was The Cabin at the Lodge in Hayden, AL. This picturesque location is true rustic elegance. The tree-lined aisle in which Ashley walked down to “Canon in D” was as if it came straight out of a fairy tale. The secluded venue creates the perfect atmosphere for such an intimate celebration of this kind.
I asked Ashley why she chose this location, and she said that “Doug and I love the outdoors, and the Cabin perfectly embodied the relaxed, woody atmosphere that we envisioned for our wedding. the ground are amazing – a perfect mixture of rustic and elegant. We also appreciated the flexibility of the venue allowed in letting us pick out our own vendors.”
The couple also appreciates good food, and who doesn’t? The wedding was catered by Southern Spoon. The food table was colorfully decorated with an assortment of food from grilled chicken, beef brisket, green beans, corn casserole, strawberry pretzel salad and even a blueberry cobbler.
Ashley and Doug’s love for one another was evident from the first meeting. I asked Ashley why she chose myself to officiant her wedding, a risky question but one I’m confident in. She said, “I can tell that Donna cares about the couples she marries, and that was reflected in the personalized touches that she added to our ceremony. Before I met her, I had no clue what I wanted in a ceremony, but she answered all of my questions, and provided extremely helpful recommendations to make everything perfect!”
I asked Ashley what her biggest fear was when it came to her wedding. Her reply was “Falling on my face while walking down the aisle- I’m not very graceful.”
Fortunately, this didn’t happen, but the bouquet did rip in half during the bridal toss. And the floor was adorned in pretty, lovely flowers. No falls, no mishaps, just a perfect day for a perfect couple.
